Lewis A. Weinstein
Founder

Lewis A. Weinstein is a third-generation tax accountant and brings over thirty-five years of tax experience to work for each of his clients. In 2000, he was named by Accounting Today as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People” in the tax profession.​

 

Prior to GenerationTax, Lewis founded the TaxLogic Corporation in 1995. TaxLogic was the nation’s first online tax preparation service to offer professionally prepared tax returns. TaxLogic went on to form strategic partnerships with America Online (AOL), Prodigy and USAToday.com. From 1995 thru 1999, TaxLogic was AOL’s exclusive provider for answering tax questions on AOL’s message boards.

In addition to GenerationTax, Lewis is a tax columnist and frequent lecturer. Lewis has been interviewed for stories on tax preparation by the NBC, CBS and Gannett television Networks. He is the recipient of the Platinum Peacock Award from the Harvard Business School’s 1995 Service Management Course for outstanding service to the community. Lewis has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Arizona (May 1984).

Chris Ristau

Chris Ristau specializes in a broad range of tax situations including multi-state tax returns, carry and co-investment income, stock options, IRA distributions, Roth conversions, relocation expenses, graduate school expenses, business use of home, foreign income, sole proprietorships, start-ups, rental properties, corporate returns, LLCs, trusts, and international tax returns.

Chris brings over 25 years of tax, accounting and finance expertise to the firm. He began his career as an investment banker on Wall Street and served as the CFO of Coregistics and PLS Logsitics Services. Chris has a Bachelors of Arts from Northwestern University (1995).

Joe Lavin

Joe Lavin advises clients on a variety of complex tax situations, including stock-based compensation and Section 83(b) elections, private equity carry and co-investment, digital assets, foreign disclosures, starting a small business, saving for retirement, and more.

Joe brings more than ten years of experience to the firm, including time at Morgan Stanley, Apple, and in the Marine Corps Reserve.

 

Joe holds degrees from Villanova University (BBA) and the MIT Sloan School of Management (MBA). Additionally, Joe is an Enrolled Agent and CFA charterholder.
